Transformation of the Wong Chuk Hang Business Area

The Wong Chuk Hang Business Area was rezoned to “Other Specified Uses” annotated “Business” in 2001, which allows wholesale conversion and redevelopment of old industrial buildings for commercial and business uses. As of September 2025 , among the 53 buildings in the business area:

  • 32 are industrial buildings, including 3 with applications for redevelopment/wholesale conversion;
  • 20 are commercial buildings, including 3 hotels and 1 mixed office/hotel; and
  • 1 building under wholesale conversion for commercial use.

Art & Creative Community

Art lovers enjoy discovering the art galleries in the area. During the Street Art Festival HKWALLS 2017, 26 international artists painted murals across building facades, metal shutters and concrete walls in the Wong Chuk Hang Business Area. The thrive of graffiti/street art has created an identity of the place and means of communication between the locals and artists.
